Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than 25 years, consider checking with your insurance company to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Can you accommodate adults who have children?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is a problem, we also provide an extra camping tent with each package which you may put up on the ground next to the camping vehicle. This can be more convenient for both you as well as your young children.
How many people can your camping trucks accommodate?
We are able to accommodate 3 people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide book or a map with the best areas to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see & camp out on Kauai.
Finest Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You could go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the best locations to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we only go to official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You can only go camping in specific areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private campsites could be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have full access to amenities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please note that if you choose to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.
