The “Petit Prince”

école Petit Prince 2011-2012

About the school

Goals

The school of the Petit Prince (Little Prince) is a pilot project in Bethlehem.  Its’ aim is to educate Palestinian children in the French school system and give Palestinian teachers the opportunity to use new teaching methods. The Palestinian education system is ossified by brainwashing and using only traditional instruction. Le Petit Prince offers a new education based on partnership with the child, the development of his potential, creativity and self-esteem, his confidence in his abilities and the quality of relationship with an adult. This relationship with adults is based on mutual respect, awareness and the awakening of curiosity within the child.

The school’s mission is to help every child grow, to gain autonomy and to develop attitudes and skills that will enable him to build basic skills. It relies on the ability of imitation and invention of the child and the pleasure of action and play. It multiplies the opportunities to stimulate their desire to learn, diversify and enrich their understanding of the world. The school is attentive to its pace of development and growth.
The kindergarten program is not regulated by a binding timetable. Instead it presents the main areas of activities to be addressed during the three years of schooling. It sets goals and outlines the skills to be achieved before the transition to elementary school.
