Karama is a project initiated by EJE in 2006, and was first implemented in Gaza in (Rafah and Jabalia, Refugee Camps, in centres that are supported by EJE).
Karama aims in raising awareness about child’s mistreatment in the OPT by increasing the capacity of children to advocate for their rights, improving the quality of child participation methods among civil society organisations and strengthening the existing mechanisms which promote the participation of children in decisions that affect them.

The idea first came as a summer camp activity, it was first imagined by gathering 30 children from (Jalazone, and Shu’fat, Refugee Camps, situated in the West Bank) and 30 other children from (Jabalia and Rafah Refugee Camps, situated in the Gaza Strip) in order to start a child parliament focusing on raising awareness towards the non-violence behaviour that are practiced against childhood in Palestine.
But due to the recent political changes the project was held in to two separate phases in both Gaza and the West Bank.
In both areas the project was a real success as boys and girls aged between 12-15 gathered to build a children parliament and discuss every single subject that were brought by them about the non-violence, and children well treatment.
And due to the importance of these subjects we at EJE thought that one gather every summer wouldn’t be sufficient to go on with this idea, so a monthly assembly is taking place now in order to highlight every single subject brought by children.
And these assemblies are taking place in different places of the west bank, and each time we are meant to bring experts in this field in order to debate with the participants.
These assemblies are a two days training, a video conference will be installed in the future workshops,  in order to offer a better exchange between children coming from Gaza and the West Bank.
