Fraternity Cup (April 18 to April 28, France)

EJE has participated to the Fraternity Cup, organized by the Voice of the Child (VDE), with the assistance of Diambars Mani Football Forever and Laureus France. The cup has hold in France from 18 to 28 April 2010.

During this unique event, children from 12 countries (Senegal, Cameroon, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Palestine, Israel, Guyana, Norway, Romania, Morocco and India) have joined in |France to meet 4 French teams during a championship to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Fraternity Cup aims to educate young people about the universal themes of respect and tolerance in particular to: promote the fundamental values of sport and to serve society; meet and discover each other in their differences; and promote the mixing of cultures.
A reflection has been realized upstream with children about their rights and the necessity to fight against discrimination, racism and prejudice.

The EJE play and animation centers joined enthusiastically this beautiful project. Teams from all centers met in Bethlehem for a championship in January. This championship was the occasion for some, especially for girls, to actually discover football for the first time. If some proved initially very shy, they were able to subsequently assert themselves and enjoy the games, and three will travel to France alongside 4 boys, to compose a mixed team.
Preparations for the journey in France has been the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the game but also their rights. A specific training was organized in March.
