Launching of the Fraternity Cup in football

On Monday, January 18th 2010, Children, Play and Education (CPE) organization, organized at Abu Ammar Sport’s Center in Bethlehem a Fraternity Soccer Tournament for children between the ages 10-12. The seven teams were selected in cooperation with partner Play and Activities Centers (PAC) in a number of refugee camps that include: Aroub, Deir Ammar, Aqbat Jaber, Shu’fat and Jalazone. Due to the severe political situation, the two Gazan teams (Bureij and Jabalia) couldn’t take part in the tournament.

This tournament has been organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the French ratification of the International Declaration of Children’s Rights and it came as part of human right’s project which has been implemented by CPE in a number of refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza Strip under sponsorship of the Belgium Consulate and the French Cooperation in Jerusalem.

Seven children (4 females and 3 males) will be selected from amongst the participating teams to form the Palestinian soccer team that will represent Palestine during the Fraternity Cup Competition that will take place in Paris between April 18th – April 28th, 2010 under sponsorship of Child’s Voice, Mani Football Forever, Laureus France and Diambars. Palestine and Morocco are the only two Arab countries represented in the competition in addition to other 11 countries that include: France, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, South Africa, Senegal, Romania, India, etc. The Palestinian team will undergo intensive training during the coming period to be prepared for such an event.
