History
The NGO (Non Governmental Organization) “Children, Play and Education”, a French-speaking Palestinian association, was created in the midst of the 2nd Intifada by professionals working with Palestinian children. The founders and members believe strongly that the children of Palestine must primarily learn to play in the context of extreme violence that involves many psychosocial programs of international NGOs. A child who plays is a child who strives! That is the motto which has since been released outside “Children, the Game and Education”.
In 2006, the French association ” Enfants Réfugiés du Monde“ left the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), leaving many p;lay and animation centers inside refugee camps without resources. That year, EJE helped to maintain four of these centers: 2 in Gaza (Jabalia and Rafah) and 2 in West Bank (Jalazone and Shu’fat). Recipients of numerous grants for the implementation of its project “activity centers and networking of professionals working with children in the West Bank and Gaza,” EJE has grown and choosen to develop its activities around three main areas: a program for play and animation centers, a program for Training & Documentation, and and Education Program.
Currently, a team of 20 permanent staff and 60 volunteers ensure the developments of these 3 programs.
